Sometimes you want to put a lot of energy into planning a date, and sometimes you’re…well, tired. These relaxing date ideas keep the planning low key.

Spa Night

Want a date that’s devoted totally to relaxation? Book some time at the Kabuki Springs & Spa. The spa has hot and cold pools, saunas, and steam rooms to spend as much time as you want to relax. Or go a step further and book couples massages, facials, wraps, and more. Head to nearby Japantown for dinner before or after your spa session.

A Curated Date

relaxing date ideas-avital date night. let someone plan your date

The real secret to a relaxing date is letting someone else do all the planning. One of the most relaxing date ideas is a night out with  Avital Date Night.  We do all the planning so all you have to do is show up and enjoy a welcome drink and surprises all night long. Expect VIP treatment as some of San Francisco’s best restaurants.

A Stroll Around A Bookshop

Remember that dates are about spending time together, not spending money. A great Sunday afternoon date is a stroll through one of San Francisco’s best bookshops. In the Mission we love Dog Eared Books, in North Beach try City Lights, and by Golden Gate Park we could spend hours in Green Apple Books. Bonus: buy some books to read in the park, a coffee shop, or back in your living room. Of course, you can do the same thing in your local library.

 Museum Visit

Spend the day looking at some of San Francisco’s best art. Among our favorites are the Museum of Modern Art, Asian Art Museum, Museum of Craft and Design, and the de Young Museum. Most museums even have free days so your wallet can relax, too.  If you can, go on a weekday when the crowds are less stressful.

A (Flat) Bike Ride

There are lots of places for rigorous rides in San Francisco, but for a relaxing ride bring your bikes to the Embarcadero. You can ride parallel to the water and stop at the Ferry Building Marketplace for snacks, the Exploratorium for a museum visit, and any one of the piers for a view. Stop for the photo ops of the Bay and Golden Gate Bridges.
